I swear, I either LOVE doing projects with the kids, or I LOATHE it! This is one of the ones I LOVED most! I looked and looked for what to do. I scoured pinterest for ideas. I started gathering supplies and realized I was missing like 1 thing from each project!
Annoyed and trying to cook dinner at the same time, I will get to that deliciousness soon, I decided finger painting was going to be the best I could do.
Then a moment of clarity hit. I remembered pinning a cute hand print mermaid at some point!
So I looked to it for inspiration, but didn't really read any directions or anything.
We got out the paints and I cut a poster in half, I was feeling confident.
Started with the body. I told each kid to pick a color. Brody picked blue, Avery wanted Ariel so her tail needed to be green.
We did the fin part first. Two hand prints layered on each other and angled out a little. then just palm up as far as we wanted the tail to go.
The kids were nervous about the face and body so Momma cheated and painted that on next while they washed their hands.
They picked hair color next. Brody went with hot pink and Avery did red.
One hand print to the side like it's floating away in the water. Then we finger printed around the hair line until it didn't look funky.
Finger printing scales on the tails came next, then finger print facial features.
Out came the paint brushes to finish off the eyelashes and Avery painted a seahorse, fish, and octopus around Ariel. They both added some finger print bubbles........
And VOILA! The cutest hand print mermaids ever!
