Green chile potato chowder, just like any old chowder

I really really really really wanted this to be amazing. It was good. It was creamy. It had a hint of green chile which I love. It was yummy, don't get me wrong. But it wasn't anything spectacular. It was a pretty good potato chowder. I will probably add roasted green chiles to other chowder recipes from now on, but I am not sure that this will be the RECIPE I use. I will probably use the cauliflower potato chowder I reviewed a little while ago.

This smelled amazing. I got so excited while it was cooking.
It looked a little weird until the end.

My changes to this recipe are fairly simple.

I would add more bacon. Maybe even mix some through right before serving.
I added more cheese than it called for.
I would add more green chiles too.
I ADORE green chiles. Like really could eat them on almost anything. BUT here, I fell like it made the soup taste like plain ole potato chowder. I think it drowned out some of the green chile flavor.

Overall, good chowder. I don't think the green chiles were highlighted as much as I anticipated. I would make it again, but it's probably not on my must do again soon list.
